The Good ShepherdBy Patrick Stevenson
THE HOLINESS OF GOD
God lives in a high and holy place and is of purer eyes than to look on sin. Even angels veil their faces before Him. He sees into the innermost parts of the heart. OUR UNWORTHINESS How little do we deserve to approach the Lord and to kneel at His feet. Our righteousness is like filthy rags in His sight (Isaiah 64:6). If we had our just deserts we would be cast out. THE MERCY AND LOVE OF JESUS Jesus came to seek the lost. He is the Good Shepherd (John 10:11), He is the Door (John 10:9). You will see in the photograph a Middle Eastern shepherd. He never leaves his sheep; always there to protect them and feed them. Notice that there is no door on the sheep pen. The shepherd is the door. The sheep are allowed in and are saved (John 10:11-27). Nothing that would harm the sheep is allowed in. He loves us, and His arms are now stretched out to receive us.
